Dendy’s Video Channel

If you go in expecting this to be light-hearted fun like the last video channel-related cartoon, you are going to be caught majorly off guard.  Being a follow-up to the end of the previous cartoon where K.O.’s body was fully taken over by T.K.O. while K.O. was banished to the subconscious, it’s no doubt very heavy.  Opening with a look at the destruction T.K.O. has been causing now under the influence of Shadowy Venomous, the whole cartoon slowly turns out to be the show’s most depressing.

Because of the influence he’s following, T.K.O. sets out doing things the real K.O. would never do.  Attacking his friends isn’t that surprising since T.K.O. always wants to fight, but he’s never been this brutal.  Plus wreaking havoc on favorite places and even robots K.O. relates to feel very wrong.  T.K.O. may be upset about a lot of things, but he’s been shown to have some logic and decency on matters.  His villainous behavior now seems completely baseless, all capitalized by tearful reactions from his close friends and family.

Even the gang at Boxmore showcases much sympathy over the situation with Lord Boxman taking things the hardest.  He really felt like he got something worthwhile when teaming up with Professor Venomous, but his new alliance with T.K.O. and the destruction they’ve cause bring major discomfort.  It was stated long before that Lord Boxman is a villain, but not a monster, and that has more meaning than ever here as he knows they’re going too far.  As Professor Venomous won’t listen to his complaints, Lord Boxman is sadly forced to go back to the sun and leave his robot children on the curb like abandoned pets.

It’s perfectly clear that life is very sad without K.O. around, especially as it brings out humanity in some of the antagonists.  The best solution would be to try and get the real K.O. back, and I don’t see why this isn’t attempted as this isn’t the first time he lost control of T.K.O.  To Dendy, who had been documenting the widespread destruction on K.O.’s old video channel, the best thing to do is spread happiness and laughter.  That’s reasonable to an extent, but her attempts of showing K.O.’s old videos and doing K.O. impressions easily make things even sadder.  It only reminds of how K.O. is no longer like that.  Even so, everyone could just do something about their sadness and pool together what they know about T.K.O. to try and save K.O. instead of just giving up like this.   To be fair, Dendy does attempt to tell K.O. he’s loved and appreciated when T.K.O. attacks again, but it doesn’t work.  Then again, it’s done on a much smaller scale than last time.  Better yet, it could have been tried on Shadowy Venomous since he’s doing all the influence, but that’s never considered.

There is at least solid closure for the Boxmore robots with Dendy’s help.  Showcasing as much humanity as their father, Dendy gets them to see one major thing the real K.O. has always promoted, togetherness.  They all get a shining moment by combining together to form an elaborate multi-colored mech, and it holds out strongly against T.K.O.  Afterwards, the Boxmore robots go the extra mile, turning over a new leaf of working alongside the heroes whether it’s finding work at the Plaza, or defending it from T.K.O.

There’s accomplishment in spreading happiness in dark times, but it’s hard to ignore that there’s little consideration in trying to reach the real K.O.  Still, even if the drama goes too far it times, it’s effective enough, and builds excitement for what comes next.
