K.O.’s Video Channel
It’s no secret that the internet is an effective
tool for multiple purposes these days such as business, communication, and especially entertainment. I
especially love to use the internet for entertainment purposes mainly through
watching online videos. This is a main reason I'm fond of this cartoon which is devoted to this pastime. It's basically a playlist of different videos, but there's a
lot of heart to it story wise.
A video is uploaded of Rad and Enid trying to pull off
an elaborate dance routine to instant popularity, and K.O. is responsible for it. Because they feel embarrassed by
how the dance turned out, they’re enraged at K.O., especially since he uploaded a
lot of videos of them. There’s
legitimate weight to their feelings since it is wrong to infringe on privacy.
As a result, it makes sense that a good kid like K.O. would respond by leaving to delete
all his videos.
Most of the rest of the cartoon from there is Rad and Enid watching the rest of his
videos while they’re still up. It’s a
fun little collection of short scenes that perfectly emulate the feel of online
videos. The video title, a channel title and icon, and a view count are on the
top corners, and a time bar is at the bottom. Each video starts with a circle icon
that literally chugs, and they cover a variety of videos commonly found
online.
While there are a few gag videos
featuring Rad and Enid, that’s not all there is to the channel.
There are things like an unboxing video of a pack of
Pow cards, a ranking of Pow cards, and video diary entry with Dendy. From my experience on the internet, these
types of videos are very prominent, and this cartoons take on them is very
entertaining and endearing. They also stand out for how they call back to
many previous cartoons:
There are update videos calling back to when he was T.K.O., when he and his co-workers
were captured by Lord Boxman, and clips of Rad and Enid’s first date in a music
video.
There's also a cute yet unsettling video that implies that they’re all still animals. At least they now apparently have better body suits.
K.O.’s channel also has videos of how much he truly values his friendship with Rad and Enid with battle re-enactment videos and a video of his own attempt at
a song.
However, the video that speaks
volumes of his care for his friends is his first one just after his first day
at Gar’s Bodega. In it, he says he considers them to be his first true
friends which adds more depth to how people view him and meaning to his main relationships.
By the time the videos are over, you’re left with strong entertainment and a variety of feels. Even nicer is that Rad and Enid get the appeal of them, especially
with K.O. making how he feels about them public. It leads to a fun climax where they race to
K.O.’s house to stop him from deleting his channel. Obstacles stand in the
way, yet it constantly feels like K.O. won’t be able to go through with the
deletion. Sadly, even when Rad and Enid
make it at the last second, K.O. does successfully delete his account. It’s really unfortunate that so many fun
and heartwarming videos end up lost forever, but Rad and Enid’s regret for bringing this on and
K.O. taking it well lessen the sting.
Not to mention, we end with a new beginning of the three of them
working on newer and better videos, their own mini movies as shown in a
humorous pseudo trailer.
This cartoon
mainly exists for fun, but it’s still a great watch with a lot of heart and a
strong emulation of what it’s like to watch online videos.
