Let’s Take a Moment
This is another cartoon on Carol and Mr. Gar’s old days at P.O.I.N.T. as Silver Spark and El-Bow.  It goes for a dramatic route, and answers lingering questions.  The flashback comes in a more interesting way than just someone telling the story.
The same rock creature Carol and Mr. Gar fought back in the day inexplicably shows up and its new googly eye locks onto the former P.O.I.N.T. members.  When it fires a punch at Mr. Gar and Carol knocks him out of the way, the scene slows down as we go into Mr. Gar’s mind.  From there, he relives an entire past event in the few seconds of the rock creature’s blow.
We see that back when he was El-Bow, he was perfectly compatible with Silver Spark.  Still, he had some nervousness, for while he truly was in love with her, she seemed more interested in a more advanced member of P.O.I.N.T., Laserblast.  The ensuing self-doubt is a believable cause for El-Bow to not focus on an emergency meeting.  This was big deal because it was on different colored orbs which create black holes, shrink things, and take away superpowers.  In a mature move, P.O.I.N.T. opted to not use the orbs for their own purpose, for even their worst enemies didn’t deserve such a fate.  This also gave El-Bow a chance to be with Silver Spark who was accompanying Laserblast to track more of them down.
As you can tell, El-Bow’s reasons for tagging along were not nearly as mature, but what we learn does answer the big questions.  Laserblast commanded her and El-Bow to stand lookout while he investigated the orbs in a donut shop and El-Bow pulling out a sandwich as it started raining.  This is a clear sign of where things will go.  El-Bow alluded to that sandwich while trying to tell Silver Spark his feelings for her, and she referred to him as just a friend.  That familiar explosion at the donut shop occurred, prompting danger.  While Silver Spark was rushing to save Laserblast, El-Bow kept distracting her with the sandwich trying to explain himself even though this was the worst possible time for that.  Because of El-Bow getting in the way, Laserblast couldn’t be saved, and it’s unknown what truly happened to him.
In many cartoons, the vague scene of the sandwich falling on a stormy night played whenever Carol and Mr. Gar’s past was questioned.  For everything to come together as a big mistake that caused something bad to happen to an elite hero and put two junior P.O.I.N.T. members apart is very satisfying and pleasing.  The reveal is smooth and is presented naturally leaving a grim undertone for Mr. Gar’s past foolishness.
However, when we cut back to the present, there’s a reassurance to bad past actions. Carol is much more forgiving of Mr. Gar, deducing this as the reason why he’s been so awkward around her.  By the way, this sets Mr. Gar's crush apart from just nervous from her appearance like how most crushes are portrayed.  Anyway, Carol even states the good of Mr. Gar’s mistake which saved them from meeting Laserblast’s fate, which is even more pleasing. Not to mention it's a great lead-in to them taking out the rock creature the way they did before.  It's not often you see characters with issues with someone turn forgiving on their own power.  Seeing it here is a quite a sight to behold and brings even further endearment to both Carol and Mr. Gar.
Now, while the ongoing sandwich scene is explained, there’s still an air of mystery to the series. The last scene shows Carol checking in with someone and informing that everything’s under control.  A cartoon from the following season explains what all this is about, but at the moment it keeps you enticed to keep watching.
Genuine emotion from heavy misdeeds and swiftly answering questions and leaving new ones to ponder make this cartoon one of the top-tier works of the show.
